Douglas has over 20 years’ experience of project development, M&A/investment, financing and consultancy in the conventional and renewable energy industries, holding positions with international project developers, Government organisations and in consultancy.
Recent projects in the MENA have included advising the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure on the establishment of a federal power and water regulatory agency as well as various corporate valuation exercises.
Douglas was a Senior Manager with Masdar Clean Energy where he was responsible for the commercial development of wind, solar and energy storage projects. In the solar sector, he was the commercial lead for various solar PV and CSP bids in the MENA region.
He originally trained as a petroleum economist with Total.

He holds an MA in Economic Science from Aberdeen University

Prior to his current focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and
developing energy solutions for large-scale commercial and residential
projects, he enjoyed a successful career in the hospitality industry.
Leveraging his entrepreneurial spirit, he has experience in
opening/starting companies and establishing operational structures from
the ground up. His well-rounded business acumen encompasses expertise
in business planning, asset management, and providing client advisory
services. Furthermore, he brings a multifaceted skillset to the table,
including proficiency in various aspects of business operations: legal,
commercial, financial, and marketing. His experience extends to audits,
operations management, systems development, and strategic planning.

Usman has over 22 years of experience in regulatory implementation, project development, asset management, transactions, project & corporate finance and financial modelling. He has worked on renewable and non-renewable projects representing investments in excess of USD15 billion in 14 plus countries spread across the Europe, Middle East, Asia and the American continents. Additionally, he has worked on the setting up of a Switzerland based venture capital fund focusing on investment in renewable energy.
He has supported and managed business development, transaction and project finance close for power projects that have the distinction of achieving record low tariffs ranging from cents USD1/kWh-cents USD3/kWh with multiple billion dollar plus investments. He is an Energy Risk Professional, certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, has an in-depth knowledge of the historical evolutions of the global energy and power markets and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, the leading educational institution in Pakistan.
His most recent engagement involved the set-up of Federal and State Regulators in the United Arab Emirates.
Kim has a deep understanding of gas and power markets. He has provided high-level expertise and specialist transaction and regulatory support for major power developers, power utilities, financiers and fuel suppliers and worked with multiple banks, governments, and IPPs internationally, offering both strategic and operational services.
His primary focus on the preparation of market studies to support and inform financing, refinancing, IPOs and M&A of power, fuel and water desalination projects in Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Asia and the Americas covering both conventional and renewable generation technologies on behalf of major international project developers, financiers and fuel suppliers. Much of this has relied on his expertise in preparing bespoke models to forecast prices, dispatch and capacity expansion.
From a transaction perspective, he has supported the successful completion of some 71GW and 700MIGD of capacity with a transaction value of some USD44 billion over the past 23 years.
Mohammed is licensed to practice law in New York State and rights of audience before the DIFC Courts.
He has more than 15 years’ worth of experience in the UAE both in large private practice and with in-house roles. He was most recently advised a large district cooling company in implementing renewable energy in one of its district cooling plants.
Mohammed is regularly sought out for in-house roles, and as such has experience in a number of practice areas, ranging from corporate litigation to intellectual property.
Mohammed is known for being able to provide pragmatic solutions to complex problems that takes into account the customs and norms of the region.
